Laura grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota in a family of professional musicians. She began studying violin at age 4 and added viola in high school. Laura has always found joy playing music with others, and began playing chamber music at a young age. After a year at the University of Minnesota at age 16, Laura began an undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University where she graduated summa cum laude with a majors in Music Performance and Sociology. 


interests

While at Vanderbilt she developed a keen interest in 21st century music, frequently performing new works by student composers, and composition professor Michael Rose. While at the Round Top Festival, Laura was featured on a “Best of” recital performing Ligeti’s “Metamorphoses nocturnes” Quartet. Other festivals Laura has participated in include the Brevard Music Center, National Repertory Orchestra, and the Monadnock Music Festival.

Laura moved to Boston to pursue a Masters at New England Conservatory under Marcus Thompson. While at NEC Laura became involved with the Preparatory School and took pedagogy under Magdalena Richter. She graduated in 2018 and has been teaching in the Preparatory School since the fall of 2017. Laura can be heard performing around Boston with the Eureka Ensemble, Cape Ann Symphony, and others.
